We would love more choirs to regularly commission new music.

CC4H is a listing of choral composers from the UK and Ireland who you can commission to write a new piece of choral music for you and your choir.

If you are new to commissioning, or if you want to read more about this site, read on.

About

CC4H is a free listing service built and maintained by composer Ian Assersohn.

The aim of the site is to bring choirs and UK-based composers together and to encourage as many choirs as possible to commission as many composers as possible as often as possible!

About commissioning

Commissioning music is an exciting and rewarding experience for choirs. In return for a fee, a composer will work with you, tailoring the music they write to your particular requirements and situation. They will retain the copyright but your choir will have the right to give the first performance. After that, the music you helped bring into the world may go on to have a life of its own, bringing great publicity to the choir.

If you want to learn more, and are a member of Making Music, then you should definitely visit their website, where you can read a guide to commissioning and access the BASCA template contract.

Disclaimer

Please note that this site just provides a listing. Composers create and maintain their own information and we take no responsibility for its accuracy or otherwise. Once you make contact with each other it's entirely between you. We take no fee from either party, and we take no responsibility for what happens, or fails to happen, next.

Having said that, if you have reason to think that someone listed here is not all they claim to be, let us know, and if necessary we will remove them from the list.

CC4H is free for both composers and choirs. But there are of course costs involved in running it. So if you find the service useful, and would like to chip in that would be lovely. Any surplus raised will go to musicians' charities. Thank you
